Development and Upgrading of Al Ittihad-Taween Road - 2nd Stage

The Project consists of the widening and upgrading of the existing 8.2 km single carriageway to a dual carriageway configuration of 7.3 m on each side and the construction of full cloverleaf interchange on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311). The Project Road connects the Al Ittihad Road (E11) on North-West side and Al Taween Road (E87) on South-East side and crossing of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) at Underpass (UP)-119 and tie-in with the newly built dual carriageway road, H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Hospital.

The works consist primarily of the following:
- Identification, protection and relocation of existing utilities and provision of future ducts.
- Construction of new culverts, ditches, channels and roadside drainage facilities.
- Earthworks including mainly the road excavation and backfilling works with the extraction of borrow materials for embankment.
- Installation of metal beam guardrails and construction of concrete NJB.
- Construction of granular and asphaltic pavement layers.
- Traffic signs and road markings.
- Roadway lighting.
- Construction of full cloverleaf interchange for the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) crossing including prestressed concrete viaduct, abutments, piers, pile foundations, reinforced soil walls, high embankment, etc.
- Construction of two pedestrian bridges.
