Upgrade of Hamad Bin Abdullah Road - Al-Fujairah

The Hamad Bin Abdullah Street (E89) is the main road of Al-Fujairah City and it starts at Al-Nujaimat Roundabout and extends till Fujairah – Kalba - Khorfakkan Road (E99). The six-kilometer Street is a dual carriageway with two lanes per direction and with four major roundabouts.

The improvement plans for Hamad Bin Abdullah road include:
- Provision of grade separation at both Nujaimat and Insurance interchanges.
- Modification / Improvement of intersection - Hamad Bin Abdullah with Al Salam Road.
- Conversion of Merashid & Madkhan Roundabouts to signalized interchanges.
- Upgrading the mid-block road to three lanes (per direction), provision of a service road, a parking and a sidewalk. In addition to the installation of pedestrian tunnels and crossings.

The purpose of the project is to improve traffic flow, avoid congestion and minimize chances of accidents that usually occur at intersections and/or roundabouts.
- Construction of stormwater system along Hamad Road.
- Construction of new street lighting system.


An addition to the original Contract was later made to include the following works:
Design and build of urgent works related to dams, water channels, and flood protection works in east coast (Masfut, Siji, Shawka) consisting of making recharge ponds, dykes and stormwater channels in 3 areas as follows:
1. Construction of urgent protection works for Al Hayl military camp area in Fujairah.
2. Connection of Al Hayl Channel with Laban Channel in HH Sheikh Mohamad Bin Zayed City in Fujairah.
3. Connection and construction of channels with outfall culverts in Al Saf and Sour Kalba in Sharjah.
